Welcome to the PLACE | NYC

Hi Friends! I’m excited to finally be able to shoot in my house again. It’s been a while since I’ve done this, and I’ve upgraded! I have a new apartment which my roomie and I moved into in Feb, and I’ve been furnishing and decorating slowly since then. As you can imagine, things get real expensive REAL fast, and, sometimes, I get paralyzed because aesthetically I don’t know what to do.

This little piece of my place is still in progress (I have grand plans for all that white space behind my head), but I’m really happy about what it looks like so far. I tend to like whites and neutrals, and little pops of color here and there. My main priority is to make the house look peaceful, bright and still ‘home-y’. The amount of light we get really helps 🙂

I’m obsessed with this couch that I purchased from Apt Deco, which sells new and used furniture, and deliver and assemble for you in NYC and DC. Totally recommend if you’re looking for furniture as it’s less sketch and more convenient than Craigslist. This was a new couch that also doubles as a futon (SCORE!). I learned that throw pillows make a couch look 100x better, so I got the white ones from TJ Maxx, and the patterned ones from HM Home (it’s amazing). Finally, the super cute brass lamp is from Target, and my plant is from Amazon lol.

It’s really important to feel comfortable and happy at home, and as frivolous as home decorations may seem, I’ve found it really makes a difference in how I feel. I love my cute, quiet and light-filled living room in the morning. For the past few weeks, my body has been regularly waking me up very early, like 5 am (y tho), so I just come to meditate and drink tea before starting the day. It’s very soothing and I think that’s what a home is supposed to feel like.

Until next time!
